Welcome to Class 1

Welcome to Class 1, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) class! We are delighted to welcome our youngest children to school and provide a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to feel happy, confident and ready to learn. Mrs Stassen is our Early Years Lead and welcomes us into school each day. We are also lucky to have our learning supported by Miss Robinson and Mrs Locking throughout the week.

Our curriculum is carefully designed to build on what children already know and can do, providing rich opportunities to explore, investigate, create and develop their independence. Throughout the year, our learning is supported by engaging themes including All About Me, Starlight Celebrations, Globetrotters, Nature Detectives, Food and Farming and At the Seaside. These themes provide meaningful contexts for learning, while children’s interests and experiences help to shape and extend what happens in our classroom.

Our indoor and outdoor environments are an important part of our provision. Children have daily opportunities to learn through play, practical experiences and meaningful interactions with adults and their peers. Our outdoor learning is an integral part of the curriculum and supports children’s development across all seven areas of the EYFS.

We place a strong emphasis on communication and language, vocabulary, early reading and mathematical understanding. High-quality stories, songs, rhymes and conversations are woven throughout our day, alongside opportunities for children to develop their confidence, curiosity, creativity and independence.

Above all, we want every child to enjoy their time in EYFS, develop a love of learning and build the strong foundations they need for the next stage of their education. We look forward to working closely with all our families throughout this exciting first year of school!
